Costa Rica Has No Hurricane Damage:

Costa Rica is well below the hurricane line and did not receive any damage from the hurricanes that plagued the Caribbean in the 2003-2004 seasons.  Costa Rica has not had a major hurricane in the 100 years since record keeping began in Costa Rica, according to the newspaper La Nacion. Hurricanes normally do not get the counter clockwise rotation necessary for a hurricane from the Equator North to 10 degrees. As the depressions get in the North 20 and 30 degree they pick up strength and rotation. Sometimes the eastern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica gets some strong winds from the Caribbean hurricanes. However, on the Pacific Coast this mostly results in rain. June to November is the rainy season in Costa Rica anyway and that’s when seas are the calmest, warmest and the visibility is normally better. Everything is plush and green during the rainy season and it’s our favorite time of the year.
